Children’s Alliance is the only association in Kansas dedicated to representing the interests of private, non-profit, child welfare agencies. Established in 1954, the association serves as a united voice for providing the highest quality care and services to children across the state.
Check their website for ongoing training throughout the State.
The Kansas Department of Children's and Families will begin piloting the Icebreaker meetings June 1, 2018. The pilot will run for three months with anticipated statewide implementation in March of 2019. These meetings offer the opportunity to begin the partnership between birth families and resource families in order to best meet the needs of the children in care. To find out more about this model visit Annie E Casey Foundation (http://www.aecf.org/resources/icebreaker-meetings/). The anticipated pilot counties include Johnson, Finney, Butler, Shawnee and Crawford. In an effort to prepare foster parents for these meetings we are working in partnership with several agencies to provide trainings in these areas and others throughout the state. If your support group or agency would like to host a training to prepare for this new initiative, please contact us.
